Terms & Conditions for Employers
Users of this site agree to be bound by the Terms and Conditions set out below. USC Student Hub reserves the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time which will take effect immediately upon posting on this site and without prior notice to Users.
1. Interpretation
“USC Student Hub” is an online system used by the University of the Sunshine Coast (USC) to advertise employment opportunities, including graduate, part-time/casual, internship/placement, work experience and volunteering opportunities, as well as career related events to students, graduates and staff of USC.
“Users” means:
(a) employers, advertisers or other parties who use this site to promote an event or job availability; and
(b) any person that uses this site to search or browse for available positions or placements.
2. Personal use
Users accept that the USC Student Hub and related sites are for their own personal use only and not for commercial purposes. Users must not copy, reproduce or distribute in any way any material from the USC websites except with our prior written consent.
3. Username
Your username and password to access USC Student Hub are your responsibility and USC will not be responsible for their loss or misuse. Users accept responsibility for any activity that occurs under their username.
4. Information to be provided
4.1 USC Student Hub requires all Users to provide the following information:
a. The name of the organisation or individual advertising the job vacancy.
b. The name of a contact person.
c. The address and phone number of the organisation, individual or contact person.
d. An adequate description of the nature of the work being offered.
e. An appropriate rate of pay, or reference to a relevant award or job classification (part-time/casual and contract advertisements only).
4.2 USC Student Hub may use your email address to:
a. Provide updates about USC Student Hub.
b. Clarify job or event details.
c. Alert you to other services to facilitate recruitment.
d. Send career-related/employment notices.
e. Undertake labour market research.
f. Ask questions to assist us in managing the USC Student Hub service.

5. Special conditions for recruitment agencies and other third party recruiters.
a. Third party recruiters must provide the name of the client organisation to USC Student Hub.
b. USC Student Hub will not disclose the name of the client organisation to anyone unless required to do so by law.
c. Only genuine job vacancies are to be submitted.
6. Types of acceptable advertisements for employment opportunities include, but may not be limited to :
a. Part-time, casual, contract or full time paid employment.
b. Volunteer opportunities.
c. Work experience/ work placement/ internship opportunities.
d. Graduate recruitment and vacation employment.
e. Commission-only jobs.
f. Independent contracting arrangements.
g. International employment vacancies.
h. Employment scholarships and cadetships.
7. USC Student Hub will not accept the following advertisements:
a. Work involving any illegal activity.
b. Any work which requires the employee to purchase a product or service, or offer a security deposit or similar as a condition of employment.
c. Any advertisement not advertising a genuine employment opportunity.
d. Any other jobs that USC deems inappropriate at its discretion.
8. USC Student Hub reserves the right to alter, withdraw or reject any advertisement where:
a. Non-compliance with these terms and conditions has occurred.
b. Misleading or incorrect information has been provided.
c. Complaints about the advertiser have been received.
d. The job opportunity or event is considered to be inappropriate.
e. Any other reason USC deems is appropriate in the circumstances.
9. Complaints policy.
In the instance that a complaint is made about a User, the following procedure will apply:
a. The complaint will be documented.
b. The advertiser will be contacted for a “right of reply”.
c. Subject to clause 9d, if the complaint is upheld, the advertiser will be given a warning.
d. Where a complaint that is of a very serious nature has been upheld, the advertiser may be disallowed from using the service after only one complaint.
e. Where a second complaint is received, the advertiser may be refused any further use of the service at the discretion of USC.
f. Advertisers may be allowed to continue advertising whilst complaints are being investigated.
g. An advertiser will be informed, where practicable, verbally or in writing, if the advertisement is withdrawn or if access to the service is refused.
h. In cases where the complaint reveals that information provided in the job advertisement was false or misleading, the advertisement will be withdrawn immediately.
10. Liability.
a. USC will be under no liability to users and recruiters in respect of any loss or damage (including consequential loss or damage) which may be suffered or incurred or which may arise directly or indirectly in respect of services supplied or advertised with USC Student Hub.
b. Users agree to indemnify USC and its staff against all claims, actions, suits, costs and expenses incurred on any account by USC Student Hub as a result of their advertisement.
c. Users of USC Student Hub must abide by these Terms and Conditions.USC checks that all opportunities featured on USC Student Hub comply with these Terms and Conditions but we do not accept responsibility for Users who provide inaccurate, misleading or false information.
d. USC does not recommend or endorse any organisations, service providers or jobs featured on USC Student Hub. You will need to make your own enquiries and obtain independent advice where necessary.
e. USC does not guarantee the accuracy of the position nor do we guarantee the availability of the job and we will not be held liable for any representations made by advertisers or employers.
f. USC does not act as an agent for any User or employer.
g. Users agree that all information they provide in their advertisement does not breach any law or the rights of any person (including legislation regarding Fair Trading, Equal Opportunity and Human Rights).
11. Intellectual Property
All intellectual property rights to USC Student Hub, USC and other related departments remain the property of USC. Users acknowledge that any material they access through the USC site remains the property of USC and any infringement remains subject to the intellectual property laws of Australia.
12. Insurance
Any insurance to be obtained in order to comply with the law are the responsibility of the User and USC accepts no liability for failure by users to take out any insurance required.
13. Other information.
a. USC Student Hub is not a recruitment agency and as such does not involve itself in selecting or recommending students for any vacancy listed on USC Student Hub.
b. Users can lodge job advertisements via the internet at any time.
c. All submitted job advertisements must be approved by USC staff before being made available for access by students, graduates and staff. Advertisements are processed during business hours, excluding University holidays and public holidays.
d. Employers who enter their own vacancies on the web site are asked to advise USC once the position is filled.
e. The employer is responsible for all aspects of the recruitment or selection process.
